Sleep report FAQs
What is the AHI?
The apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) counts how many apneas and hypopneas are recorded on average per hour of sleep. Public clinical literature (AASM) groups values into ranges — below 5 is described as normal and above 30 as severe — but what a specific value means in your case is for your doctor to determine.
What are SpO2 and desaturations?
SpO2 estimates the percentage of oxygen in your blood; a desaturation is a transient drop in that percentage during sleep, and your report may record how many occur per hour. How to interpret these values in your context is a job for your doctor or your sleep clinic.
Does this tool diagnose sleep apnea?
No. It translates the values already on your report into plain language using public definitions. It doesn't diagnose, doesn't prescribe therapy changes, and doesn't replace your doctor's reading.
Where do its thresholds come from?
From the public classification of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM), the usual reference in sleep study reports. We don't use custom or invented thresholds.
